Mask Issue

I had a mask issue recently on a dive trip. I was wearing a CressiSub Bigeyes mask, and out of the blue on a dive it started flooding. I saw no leaks around the glass, and no tears in the skirt. I had approximately 6 dives with this mask (it was almost new).
I had to switch to a rental mask for the rest of this day.
I tried my mask on a snorkle trip later in the day, and once again it flooded, this time as I would turn my head.
I obviously lost faith in this mask.
Does anyone have any ideas why this would have started, or how to fix it?

Get a buddy to look at you while you move your head- they may see the leak

Sounds like a poor fit to me. Is your face unusually small, large, round, oblong, or otherwise unique? I ask this because I tried a couple of masks before I got one that fit me just right. I found that most production masks are made for the average "good looking" person. Being a bit ugly, I had to find one that fit all of the weird contours of my face.

Yep I agree, It once happened to me. The best thing is visit a scuba store. Try all of them and for sure you will end up with the one that fits you the best.

Thanks for all of the responses.
I do have a bit of a fat face, and a goatee.
The problem is that I do the "breathe in test" at the shops, and have even done the pool tests to try one out, only to find that past 20 feet, the mask leaks.
I have an old Aqualung Quartz 2, that does not leak, but is getting old, and may not last longer.
I will keep searching, and hope to find one that works.

Probably something to do with fit. I also have the Cressi Sub "Big Eyes" mask and have made 13 dives on it so far with no problems. I have been able to turn my head in all directions, flood and clear, without any leaks.

How did the rental mask work out?

make sure you try it out with your reg in. That changes the contours of your face. I had a great mask that I was trying out in the pool but when I hit blue water it leaked & leaked.

I find most mask problems are caused by a too tight strap, not too loose.
(insert Lautrec joke here)

I dive a Big Eye too and my first dive after check out I had trouble with leaks as well. I used the mask all through the class and check out dives with no trouble so I took it out on the next trip-No leaks. I never figured out exactly what the problem was but the only time I did not shave before a dive was the time it leaked.
