Yes, you can remove it from the console. After you get it out - through it in the trash. Purchase a new depth gauge and install it in the console. Of course, this is a perfect oportunity to get that new dive computer that inserts into the same size opening in your console ;-)

I am looking at computers that fit in my gauge boot. I am having a hard time getting the gauge out of the boot, the spg came out easy, but I am a hard time getting out the depth gauge. It feels like it will tear the boot.

Warm (hot) water should soften the boot and make it more pliable.
