Spearfishing on liveaboard recommendations

This question is on behalf of a friend of mine who wants to find a liveaboard that allows spearfishing. Any suggestions?

I know of a few boats over here that only do spearfishing trips. But they dont use scuba as its illegal over here.

Have a look at this site: Adrenaline Spearfishing Supplies - Dive Equipment Specialists

Alot of liveaboatds are aimed at divers and most are not to keen on guys like us snatching a quick feat from the reef. It could be a lonely few nights at the bar with eyes burning holes in the back of your head.

There are several that go to the middle grounds (Gulf). Off the top of my head...
The Headhunter out of Tampa area
The MV Playmate out of Key West goes to the Dry Tortugas.

I also found the following links by google'ing "Spearfishing charter New Orleans"
Spearfishing Magazine - Dive Boat Charters: Xtreme Fishing Charters
NOLA Spearfishing :: New Orleans, Louisiana Spearfishing

There are a bunch of Spearfishing clubs in NOLA See the list on the right side of this tournement link NOLA Spearfishing :: New Orleans, Louisiana Spearfishing

Sorry for the short response. I am mobile right now.

Dollfin,
I would second on the "Playmate" out of KeyWest which goes to the Dry Tortugas to spearfish. I'm having a brain f*rt on the name, but they are a great group to dive with and their food is awesome.

The fog has lifted....

Ultimate Getaway out of Ft Myers is another liveboard option that welcomes spearfishing.

just make sure you book a trip that is geared towards spearfishing. some are geared only towards "diving in the park" (Tortugas marine sanctuary) and you can't spearfish in the park.

Blackbeard out of Freeport does. I just talked to them, they even seem to encourage it. They will cook your catch for you and to share.
