Does anyone know a good place on the Gulf (west coast of FL) to gather stonecrab claws?

Problem is that most people don't or won't give up their sites to find claws. Where on the west side are you looking to dive?

For me it has always been making the decision....warm with drawn butter or chilled with key lime mustard sauce.

Meaty, easy to eat, and easy to harvest if you can find the crabs. No kill required - just rip off the little guy's arm.

So you rip the claw off and the crab continues to live? If so does he regrow it. I assume so since he would be defenseless.

Theres nothing better than going out and getting some claws and cooking them right up on a propane burner at the beach with a cold beer.

And yes they do grow them back & the right thing to do is take only one claw so it's not left defenseless. I know I wouldn't want both of my arms ripped off and try and survive.

There is the argument that if you rip off both claws, it is better for the crab since it will just cover itselfs in the ground untill the claws regrow, instead of being an active, crippled crab. I wouldn't take both claws personally, but it is somethin to chew on....
