A General Thank you!
Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to take a moment to send out a Thank You to everyone on the Scuba Toys Forum for all the advice that I have received so far. I have posted a few questions that were NOOB questions, as well as what I feel were some informed questions and both were met with equal enthusiasm and very knowledgeable answers.
I have been members of a few other forums for other endeavors I have undertaken and the experience hasn't been as wholly positive and informative as the one here at Scuba Toys. Many time when a repeated question comes up, the members of other forums are quick to bash the original poster with harsh "USE THE SEARCH FEATURE" posts instead of taking the few minutes to provide a useful answer.
Also, my NOOB questions where always answered respectfully without making fun of my lack of knowledge. Thanks again to everyone who has made this a positive experience.
I feel like I have learned more from lurking the forums and asking questions here then I did at my Local Dive Shop and from my OW class. In person I feel its a little harder to ask questions that go well past my new diver status, especially when it comes to equipment research, used gear, online shopping, etc. I felt like as a new diver, the LDS was looking at me funny for asking about back inflate BC's and brands they didn't offer. Whether or not that was the case may be my own insecurities, but either way I have learned a lot and I cant wait to try it all out when I hit the water again.
Finally, Thanks for giving me a place to get Scuba off my mind. I am sure my fiance can attest to the nights of listening to my inane drive about the benefits of a back inflate bc over a traditional stab jacket, what stainless is better, Does it all NEED to be black to be Scuba stuff?? Bless her heart, she even bought me my mask for my birthday to support me. Without the forum I fear she might have had Scuba overload and beaten me to a pulp.
Thanks again everyone!! If anyone is in the Long Island Area and ever wants to go dive or grab a beer, feel free to drop me a line.
