Stay-Focused

Just saw a piece on the NFL network where Brandon Lloyd hooked up with an organization called Stay-Focused which takes physically challenged kids to the Caymans to become certified scuba divers. Thought the piece was really cool, even if Lloyd never got off the boat .

Figured I'd pass the link along so people can check it out.

That is VERY cool. I hope that is the beginning of something really huge!

Thanks for sharing that! I have a disabled relative. Wheels are turning!

One of our LDS here in Denver has an emphasis on working with disabled divers and has installed special equipment in their pool area to assist them in getting in and out of the pool. They also run a disabled diver trip every year.

They also teach a Handicapped Scuba Instructor Course.

The owner of the dive shop was a therapist as a local hospital prior to marrying into the scuba business and its a labor of love for him.

That's an awesome story and I hope that it turns into something really huge. As someone who has worked with a lot of adults with physical and cognitive disabilities I know how frustrating it can be sometimes to help them find the opportunities that they need and deserve.

This is something that I hope the diving community really gets behind and supports!
