I talked to Joe today for about 15 minutes. Great guy and really cool. He did zap me for a bunch of money but he was a ton of help.

Thanks Joe

Joe is one of the best. On a Sunday back in Dec 07, I was investigating scuba diving. I walked into the ScubaToys store and met some big guy named Joe. I had a million questions. In all, he spent about an hour-and-a-half answering questions for somebody he knew was not going to buy that day. In fact, he specifically told me he was not going to sell me anything. On my way out, he handed me a bottle of mask defogger with a "You'll be back."

An hour-and-a-half. On Sunday. ScubaToys IS NOT OPEN ON SUNDAY. He was there to do is store manager duties, but took timeout to talk to a total newbie, when he could have just said, "Come back tomorrow."

Great guy, indeed.

Wow...somebody hit the lotto!!!

Just a quick queston: have you tried the mask on at your LDS? If not, you may want to do so to ensure fit. Heck, you may wish to purchase locally to get a good fit. Just saying.

On another note: you won't be moving very fast or efficiently. I do not see fins or booties listed. Or a snorkel.

You will be pleased with the Zeagle Brigade BC; I used one during my OW training. (Bought a BP/W rig thereafter, though).
I also use the Oceanic 250. Did you get the download cable?

Question: why did you go with the above gear?

LOL, I left the fins out. I bought some Tusa xpert Zoom fins and boots about 2 weeks ago and really like them so far. A snorkel too

I tried some BC's and a few other things on localy and didnt find anything I really liked. The selection isnt that big around here unfortunately. The brigade for the cost seemed like the perfect combo of what I was looking for in price and features. Gee that sounded alot like an advertisement. LOL

The mask, I understand what your sayin. I havent tried it on. I couldnt find one local. I pray I dont have a problem. I havent found a leaky mask yet though. 3 for 3 so far on different brands. So I'm hoping I can keep up the adverage. I did find that I had to shave my mustache part of my gotee off because of leaks. Got rid of that and sealed up like a champ.

No cable yet. I will have to get me one soon. I ran out of $$ for now.

Reason I went with that gear: From what I have researched and had responses on Atomic was great gear that breaths easy. Just what I was looking for. Theres tons of good gear out there from what I found. I wanted something simple but yet quality and reliable for the regs. I bought both as Atomic to keep it simple. When I get them serviced I dont have to worry about taking them different places and all that.

The computer Joe talked me into. yes Joe I just blamed you. I had the lesser one picked out and he said for about 100 bucks its worth it. So I figured I was already in this for a bunch so whats another 100.LOL Plus the added dive time and more safety.

The mask is a lower profile so I'm hoping for more sight picture out of it.

The tank was a spur of the moment. I was just going to rent them for use. But I got to thinking. If I dive 15 times and pay 10 bucks per rental plus driving 50 miles to and from the closest shop. Well theres a tank. Might as well do it because 15 dives will be done in about a month or 2.

Probably one of the most important reasons is, I wanted reliable equipment that I could afford. I want to put all of my odds of safety on my side that I can to stay safe down there. I love diving so far and want to enjoy it for many many more years. Wish I would had started about 10 yrs ago. So I bucked up up front instead of upgrading over time. I'm one of those types of people that I dont like buying lower end then sayind dang I wish I would have spent 1-200 more for that one I really wanted. Then being a few hundred more into what I wanted in the first place.

You guys have helped alot by answering my questions and guiding me. Plus alot of previous topics I read. A big thanks is due.

It's a very good computer. My dive buddy for OW also bought the Veo 250. However, he did not read the instruction manual, so it was nearly useless to him during the dives. During one SI, he told me he'd read the manual during THAT interval. I just laughed; it's a bit more complicated than that.

I got my download cable when I got the computer; my ST sales guy (name not mentioned to protect him ) sold it to me for about $25 as a "package deal".

When I bought my Veo 250, it was on a console with SPG and compass. After a few dives like that, I went back to ST and bought wrist boots for the Veo and compass.

Atomic is an excellent brand. Good reliability and ST customer service cannot be beat.

I'll have to get one.

Oh yeah, I will be reading that owners manual for sure and learning the gauge.

I'll definately have to pick up that cable.

I dont have it yet and this question would be answered then, but does this come with a program to keep track of your dives on your PC?
