If the two of you are brand new divers and new to the dive site, everyone will recomend that you hook up with a local dive operator and do some dives with them at least the first few times. The best place to ask about how to find a diveshop or boat operator is in the geographic forums here or at scubaboard.com |

I started @ 45 so don't feel too bad!! Welcome to the sport and here's hoping you and your daughter find as much enjoyment as I have. You'll be kicking yourself in the arse for not doing 20 years ago!
Welcome to the forum and enjoy!

Is 40 old? Why didn't someone tell me! I started at 42, it doesn't hurt too bad. As for NC diving, I'd be mightly careful with a 14 year old and I am guessing that most operators won't allow your daughter to go offshore. Too deep. There are some beach dives, but they are mostly training sites, not anything too grand to look at, but nice safe areas to get wet and practice. Enjoy!

My wife is 40 and just learned to dive. I am 40 also, and learned to dive again after diving the first time 27 years ago. Atleast you finally discovered diving, no matter what your age is. Find a good network of divers close to you to get experience with and learn from as you dive and have fun.
