I think that's awesome. I'm always impressed with kids who have goalsand special talents, and will actually work towards them. I would rather have a motivated kid like that be my buddy or rescuer than someone who qualifies merely because of age. Maturity comes in all shapes and sizes!

Worst spearfishing day ever..

I am in Oklahoma right now for about 4 months and I was getting the itch to get back into the water. My Wifes Grandparents have a lake house at Grand Lake in Oklahoma and it was good to get wet but was not good for visibility and spearfishing. The visibility was about a foot and a half and for me to have shot anything the fish would have had to ran into the spear. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good lake to do some spearfishing in Oklahoma?

Lake Tenkiller.

There are some fairly large catfish there. Gene Strayhorn, the old guy who runs the local dive shop can rent you tanks / provide fills.

12 for jr 15 for normal I am 15 have my Adv open water, Nitrox... and I have signed up for Adv Nitrox, Cavern diver/intro to cave combo, and Rescue diver as far as Technical diving classes such as cave, cavern, adv nitrox, rebreathers TDI is really one of the only places that will offer you those at 15 I am not sure what agenices offer nitrox at 12 but just keep in mind that nitrox is not made for deep diving and it does not quilify you to go below 130' as a matter a fact padi says not to go below 110' for 32% and about 94' for 36% I would go with someone other than padi for nitrox cert since they are more conservative so if you want to get the max out of nitrox go with a different agency for it but if you want deep diving the gas to do it with is Helium in a course called Trimix and Adv trimix which allows you to go to depths if 200', and 330' but you must be 18 to take the course, there is also 2 other courses called decompression procedures which allows a max depth of 150', and another course called Extended range which gives you a max depth of 185'-190'

I'm unaware of any agency that suggests a working ppo2 higher than 1.4. I do not believe this is PADI being restrictive.

+10 JJ!

To my knowledge, even the major tec agencies (TDI, DSAT, IANTD) advocate a make working pp02 of 1.4 ata the only higher is the 1.6 ata for deco only as you are not working, just sitting so to speak. And then air breaks are advised.

Getting the max out of your nitrox should not include increasing your risk of O2 toxicity!
