Light help - picture request

I'm wanting to take one of the Princeton flashlights apart and mod it with some custom led's...

need a favor - before I commit, I want to see what the wiring / switches look like inside either the Miniwave or the standard Shockwave...

any help is greatly appreciated!

thanks

What time of mod's are you looking to do? I've read that any mod with a powerful LED or LED's will need a heatsink of some type.

yup, most definitely will need a heat sink... but, thats one of the reason I want these pictures, so I know how they are wired inside... they are both dual brightness lights, which means I'd be able to run two circuits inside, a low power and high power mode - was thinking around 400 lumens low power, and around 800-1000 lumen high power...I've experimented with these led's before (the P4 series) and a single one gets hot, but not hot enough to cook anything, the Q5's are more efficient and don't appear to get as hot, yet are brighter (less power usage as well)

plus, the rechargeable D batteries kick ass - 9000 mah, which means 8 D batteries would run the 400 lumen brightness for around 14 hours, and 800 lumens for around 5 hours (use a higher voltage plus more drivers)

I didn't know you could switch out bulbs to LED. How do you rig a heat sink into the light?

lets just put it this way, its not a simple procedure...

some day soon, I'm going to mock up something to fit in place of the 3 led bulb assembly in my princeton tec miniwave... gonna take some doing, and pretty much reinventing the inside of this thing, but it is very doable...

there is no easy drop in bulb - led's project light a whole different way than a halogen or equivalent bulb does...there is room for 3 or 4 led's in the same area as one bulb (as evidenced by the miniwave vs standard light)

I suggest some reading on candlepowerforums.com
