looking for best hands-free Light
I need a good, economical, hands-free light. the OMS Ultra Bright Head Lamp really caught my attention, but was wondering what else is out there.
I'm no Techie, yet; I just need a good light to cut through some of this Lake Michigan gloom. |

Why hands-free? Does a goodman handle suffice, like on a can light? That allows mostly free use of your hands. Head mounted lights aren't usually all that great. Less so for your buddy! Especially if you're considering going tech at some point.
A good HID can light is generally best for cutting a swath through the gloom. I recommend the 21w Salvo HID can light... but the 50w would be even better! |

Check out the dive light x-tensions. Goodman mount at less cost than an HID.

Salvo has gone over to LED lights now. They say they work better then HID. Certainly a lot less likely to fail and with a 50,000 bulb life it should for multiple lifetimes of active diving Salvo Diving Equipment - Rebel LED Lights
I've not seen one of these in use underwater yet but I do know that a pencil thin beem of LED light does cut through muck as well as anything can. Last edited by ChrisA : 04-21-2008 at 02:52 PM. |

Maybe the elastic would be better for the OP. It could be slipped onto his forearm. The elastic could be pulled tight enough and he'd really never "have to" take it off. So I stand down on the goodman, in the OPs case, he has more arm than I do and it would "fit" for him for his issue. Michael |
