Looking for opinions...need help
Hey guys and gals!
I am looking to purchase a new light pretty soon. It will be used as a primary light, but will not be carried all the time. Only during night dives a few times a year, and also I will be using it in a "cave like" situation as well. My dad runs some hydro plants on the river and needs to do pm's on them occasionally. I will be going with him on some of these dives as well. Conditions in the draft tubes are usually black out. They're about 50' down and back up into the units about 30'. The 2 lights that I am looking at are the Princeton Tec Led or the UK light cannon HID. There definantly is a differance in the price, but I can spend up to about $200 give or take. Is there enough differance to opt for the UK light cannon? Any thoughts? Thanks! Micah |

I own the UK light canon. I got it back in 2004 and have over 80 night dives on it and it has traveled fairly well but I'm always worried I will get some place and the bulb will be toast. Back when I bought this light LED technology was no where what it is today. If I were you I'd go with an LED. It will travel better, batteries last longer and there are other choices besides the Princeton Tec. If you plan on traveling with your light maybe a Princeton Tec Miniwave instead or...
Check this out: :: INTOVA :: it seems very similar to this: Tusa TUL-300 LED Light, Dive Lights, Tusa, Tusa TUL-300 LED Light

myself, you can never have enough light. i would invest in any uk led light and the ike lite pcm are also good for a secondary light small and very bright , almost as bright as my primary.
and i have used both but prefer the uk lights .

Looked at that Princeton tec Miniwave Led. Is it the same brightness as the Shockwave Led, just not as long of run time? What is the size differance? Is it a lot?
I won't really be doing much traveling with it. Just the local lakes and rivers. Although I would like to have a pretty long burning light, I may consider something smaller if it stills puts out the same light and is a considerable size smaller. If not, the larger would probably be fine. I have been reading a few threads on the subject and it seems that although the UK light cannon HID is a fine light, some people where having a problem with the breaking. Also, does the bulb tend to burn out quicker? Just not sure if the increase in light outways the initial cost of the light plus the cost of batteries due to less burn time. I guess that is what my dilemma is on that. I know this has probably been a debate somewhere before, but I couldn't find where it was. Are the UK LED's and Princeton LED's pretty much the same? Is there any big differance in the two when it comes to the UK C8 and C4, and the Princeton Tec Shockwave Led and their miniwave led? Thanks again! Micah |

If you are willing to spend a few dollars more for an outstanding light, look at the Nocturnal Lights SLX LED light. I recommend it highly after using ours for nearly 3 years.
