I agree with Mitsuguy, considering I actually own most of the lights in question.
The OxyCheq is a FANTASTIC backup light. It's also quite good for signaling, as it's focus is nice and tight, and the "hot spot" it throws is almost as good as a 10w HID. However, if you're in the market for a general LED light for night dives, to compare with a 10w HID light cannon, which is NOT very focused, and more like a floodlight, the OxyCheq falls very short. There just is not much spill outside the hot spot, so it's use as a "floodlight" for night dives is limited. On a 10w can light, there is a hot spot AND a decent amount of light spill in the surrounding area... it's just putting out a lot more light than the OxyCheq's tight beam does, and in more than one area. You could use the Oxy backup light as a primary. People do. There are nice things about it (mostly size and signaling capability). But I sure wouldn't want to... especially if I was looking for the floodlight effect that a light cannon offers. The simple fact is, if you want to put out 10w HID levels of light, you need a 10w HID OR one of the newest LED can lights... which is FAR outside the price range under discussion. |

no, I totally agree, I've actually considered purchasing the Raider as a secondary light as well - they are well constructed, very bright, great little lights... but the original poster was wanting something comparable to a HID light cannon, which we have already discussed was not the same...
