I ended up mounting the light to my spear gun. The beam was the perfect tightness for a visual aiming aid. I used a small piece of army rope (don't remember what it is called) and attached a retractor to it to my BC for a hands free fish-removal. Also, in case my light mount broke.

It does have a tight beam. I have no way answering your question however. The throw is fairly far. I have a problem with this light being too smooth on the outside. When I am wearing my gloves, I have issues turning it on/off. Since this is Dorcy's first foyer into scuba lights, I can see how this was overlooked. I bought two of them at the same time. When comparing the beams, one definitely has a higher lumen output than the other. I even swapped batteries as a measure of testing. I guess this is because the LEDs are binned and one of mine perhaps almost made the cut for the higher bin.

For the #41-0467, Dorcy Direct is still offering a discount code: HOLIDAY20
The 20% discount drops the price from $64 to $51.20. Free shipping. Not as good a deal as acamato and USF_Diver. But...thirteen bucks is thirteen bucks...
