Any thoughts on DR 15w 1000 Lumen HID?

I see these 1000 Lumen HID's on sale. Any thoughts? The ballast on my DR21w packed it in and it just isn't economical to send to DR for repair - any ideas on fix it yourself? I can't go wrong if it doesn't!

Airspeed Press makes some good DIY books, one of them on dive lights...if you've got some time. It's a great book. Also, a few of our board members have done their own lights. The Airspeed link doesn't seem to be working right now, try emailing at info@airspeedpress.com

The book is about 30 bucks plus shipping. Good luck!

man, if I had a housing that was good and reliable, I'd find all kinds of things to jam in there... you could do anything from a Triple P7 emitter (800 lumen per emitter) to a single with a long runtime, hell, you could even do a 35 watt HID - might take some experimenting, but car headlights are 35 watters and available everywhere for cheap cheap...

Just curious, what exactly happened to the ballast?

I saw a DIY dive light with one of these. OtterBox 9000 // OtterBox.com

You can pick one of these up for about 20 bucks!
