I would jump on any of those 40.00 deals its the same light as the tusa on ST that is 80.00 for the most part. Make sure you get the wide torch one though.

I was so impressed by the Tusa I bought two. It is great to have a small bright light that you can slip in the wrist area of a dry suit for giant stride entries with nothing to smack around.

I do see a Dive Right canister in my future though.

Sounds like a good light, looking for something to replace my lost Dorcy (if not another one). Can someone post a picture of the beam?

If you are planning on picking up one of the Intova lights you need to look at the Compact Torch, not the narrow or wide.

It is thier newer light, brighter and more reliable switch, still under $40. This light replaced my Dorcy as the backup that I carry....

Considering the light has only been on the market for two months, how can you justify saying it's more reliable?

I like mine a LOT, mind you, but we have ZERO long term reliability data at this point.

Point taken. This is true.....

The point I was trying to make was there were reports of the Intova wide and narrow lights with the magnetic switches on the side of the lights where the actual switch came loose and fell off.

I can not see this happing with the Compact Torch with the push button switch on the back, but I could be wrong.

Still I would recomend looking at the newer light vs the older models. For under $40 it is a great option right now but the tech on lights seems to be evolving quickly these days.

I agree 100%.

Although to be fair, as I understand it, Intova fixed the magnetic switch used on the cr123a Wide and Narrow lights, and they no longer fall out like the first couple of batches did. They still give me the willies.

All that said, however, the switch is the one ara that worries me the most about the Intova Compact. It works wonderfully. Now. Barely a month old, the oldest ones we know of are perhaps 2-3 months old? (When was buddhasummer's thread?) I worry what will happen to that push button over time as the light goes through silty waters and sand. There's no way to service it that I can see, so if that switch was to get gummed up, that would be a big problem, and nothing could be done about it. For rec dives, doesn't really matter, but it definitely means I'll never bring it on a serious tech dive where lights mean life.

Wow did not realize this thread was from 2008....thanks for the heads up on the newer light Comp and Devil. I think I'll wait until December and see how the Dorcy II holds up. The Intova blew the Dorcy out of the water in brightness on one picture I saw, found that odd.
