Piezo switch
Hello!
I have been playing with the idea of making my own dive torch for a while now, and thought it would make a good Christmas project. I have decided that I will go down the cut down maglite route as it seems a very cheap and easy way to get a 50mm alloy head. The battery’s I haven’t yet decided on properly but will start with SLA 12v just till I’m happy that it all works and water tight. My question is about the Piezo switch, when I was sourcing the parts of the web I hadn’t realized that I would not be able to wire it in a simple circuit i.e positive on either pole and to the bulb (50 watt mr16 halogen) and earth from battery and bulb together. So can anyone tell me what I’m missing or not doing right please? Any other suggestions people might have on this matter would also be kindly accepted. Thanks everyone! |

Check out this site Dive Light - Diy underwater canister scuba torch. I had built my light using the otter box and the 16.8 v battery, pizeo switch, and dive genie. You can get 4 concuctor wire on ebay.
Out of a 50 w mr16 I got 1 hour of burn time on high until the genie drops the brightness level down. I did a quarry dive ( only 25ft deep) in the beginning of November and on high it was like a cars high beams in a snow storm. I had to use med or low. |

With a piezo switch, you will need to wire that circuit similar as you would a car relay...
alternatively, you can just install a regular watertight switch, then go back to normal wiring... up to you...
