Oxycheq Raider III: Is it a quality light?

I've been doing some forum lurking and have generally gathered that there were some problems with the first series of Raider I lights, that (apparently) has been corrected by Oxycheq.

Anyone hear/know about the Raider III? Any problems or quality issues with this light?

There have been some issues with the on/off switch not working and the lens missing on the initial shipments.

I'm thinking they might have gotten these fixed now... or are working on the fix.

check over at SB and there are some more details in some threads over there.

Lens issue seems to be resolved (finally), but I keep seeing reports of failed switches. If you want this light as a primary for simple recreational dives, and don't mind a good chance of having to send it back, it seems ok. If you're going to use it as a backup in a real overhead environment, stay far, far away.

I have had mine since the beginning of Jan 09 and been on about 15 or so dives. So far it has worked flawlessly without any flooding and the switch has never failed and is easy to turn even with gloves. The light is very tight and bright – the other evening there was a Dive Rite LED 700 and we shined in on the wall and you could see the hot spot from my Raider in the center of the Dive Rite’s hot spot. Of coarse the Dire Rite hot spot was at least 6 larger than the raiders. Overall I like the light but knock on wood I hope I don't have problems with it.

Received mine in beginning of Feb. First dive got water in the lens. Sent back to Oxycheq, haven't heard anything back yet from them. Seemed like an okay light. Compared with my buddy's Greenforce canister you could hardly see it. but thats not really a good comparison.

It seemed like an okay light, even though it flooded on your first dive and you haven't seen it since?

I've got some land to sell if you're interested...

Ok, how about this: It turned on underwater and lit up cracks in the rock, meaning it served it's purpose as a flashlight. However it did not do it very well and I would not buy another one.

Yeah, but kind of pricey as a one time use flashlight, no?

Lol...yeah a little pricey, but I'm hoping Oxycheq will be so kind as to send me one that works properly that will be able to be reused.

This is what I keep hearing. A nice light IF it would just work properly. Seems like Oxycheq hasn't gotten the quality right on this one, yet.

That is disappointing.
