Question OxyCheq Raider 3 LED Strobe & SOS Feature

What are the thoughts on this light and the ability to eliminate an extra piece of gear. Is the strobe feature comparable to a Tektite 200?

I was originally planning on purchasing a separate light and strobe until I saw this. These lights seem to be a crowd favorite, despite some lukewarm reviews, but not much is mentioned about the strobe/SOS features.

Can anyone offer some insight? Thanks in advance!

Awesome light, WHEN it works. I had three of them die in a row. Oxycheq wasn't all that forthcoming with warranty replacement.

I've given up on the Raider III, as have many other divers.

When they work, they work well.

I've seen far too many reports of these lights actually failing to trust them.

If you want a similar style, nice bright light that has been well reviewed, I'd look at the Dorcy first, followed by the Intova.

I was just reading the threads on the Dorcy...looks like a great deal at $50 with the discount.

But the dorcy no longer fits in the Oxy III sock, right? I thought that would have been a great feature to use the Dorcy in the Oxy Sock.

Most of what I have read echos your opinions. Damn. I was really thinking it might have been a way to have both a strobe and light in one.

I will read up more on the Dorcy. Thank so much!

The Dorcy fits in the Raider I sock fine, though turning it on does take two hands. All the oxycheq items I've ever used have had very poor quality control issues. I'd stay far away from anything they make other than wings. The Intova lights fit in the raider III sock. You have to be careful with the switch on the intova's, I've not had mine come off as some others had reported but I've had the lights turn themselves on quite a few times.

The o2 analyzers that OxyCheq got its start with work well also. And their wings are some of the best in the industry, period. Their backplates work fine... it's hard to screw up a plate of bent steel. And their wetnotes. And a number of little accessories that they make.

The only exception I've seen are these dive lights that they keep trying to make work. (Other than my Raider I rev 2, which has been flawless)

What OxyCheq gear are you finding that has issues, other than their lights?

Au contraire! The Dorcy WILL fit in the Raider III/IV sock. It's a tight fit, but it works.

Fisheater: So you have tried the Dorcy with the Oxy 3 sock? I think I read on the Dorcy vs. Oxy thread that someone said it would not fit.

I think it would be great to use the sock with the Dorcy though. Hard to beat at $50, $70 with the sock.

I have both the Dorsey and the Raider III/IV sock and they will not fit. I also have a Raider I sock that it will fit but it is tight fit.

lol

Dennis, I think it was your post on the other thread that I remembered someone saying it wouldn't fit!

Is there another brand of "sock" that would work as a goodman handle for a "standard" style light?
