I recently bought a Sartek EBL2200 and used it on a dive trip. It is great. I got the shorter version with rechargeable battery, but I understand the AA version has the same output. It is very bright and seems to be a good design if you decide to get a "twist on" type light."

I have one of those new Intovas on order to try out as well, even though I don't need another light.

It sounds like your looking for a smaller light. I use a Princeton Tec Impact XL as a backup light but it has the screw switch you don't like. They make the same light with a switch as the Princeton Tec Torrent.

i started with a clear list of what i want ,
but from hearing different opinions on dive lights im now open to screw head lights of a known & trusted type.

one that i can source locally at a reasonable price and quick postage is the
Underwater Kinetics - Mini Q40 eLED Plus

DiveImports.com - (Powered by CubeCart)
productId=263

may be a fair compromise ,
on another note
today i rang the Australia importer of the Intova lights and they had no idea of the 4.7w AAA bat light

so i dont think i would be able to source it in Australia in a timely fashion .

Thanks for the input all

Matty

The mini Q40 eLED is a great little inexpensive light that has been around for a long time (in various evolutions). It will give you great service. And UK really stands by it's products, should you have a problem. (Few have, based on reports I've seen... or haven't seen.)

mate i've got a mini Q40 eLED, from dive imports, and i think its a great little light. very white, as are all led lights, lots of light and low battery consumption. whether in the pocket as a backup or on the wrist as a primary they work well.
i have other UK lights and no probs. never had a problem with dive imports. ordered tanks on a thursday and they arrived on tuesday.
scuba toys come close to this in delivery time

ps i'm east coast

Here's another prop for the mini Q40 eled. Inexpensive yet reliable and long lasting

Interesting......

That is a bright light for $80, claims 3 hr burn time at full power, rechargeable batteries. I just purchased 2 lights recently so I would have to see some reports before I could justify this without feedback first.

hey all
well the light i finally got was the

Mini Q40 eLED Plus

quite a good little light , no leaks so far , and batt still going strong , , the light actually lives in my boat and i just pull it out when i need a second light on a dive or when my model needs a light .

the other weekend i saw a couple of divers using the new inon led light ,
very well built , compact and bright , i would not hesitate in buying one .

Regards
Matty
