Original Muscle Cars Post Your Favorite

Auto companies are realizing the demand for muscle cars again and it seems that they are coming back. Only problem though is that the cost for one is too high and now ran by computers, looking at 35,000 plus for one. Gone are the days when you wanted to replace the headers or carbs for more HP and you could basically stand in the fender wells to do it. For a couple of grand you can pick one up and smoke the tires right off the lot with a big grin on your face, then go cruising with your buddies later. I think my favorite car of the older days would be a Chevelle SS. Big ole' 454 360 horsepower right off the lot, man that is sweet! I like the Mustangs too but naturally I am a Chevy man.

I hear you brother...the new mustang replica's got my tast buds watering, but I'm not a Ford Man. As a kid, I had a 72 cutlass and still kick my @ss for ever selling it. I heard they are thinking about coming out with a Cutlass GTO replica - ooohhh. I've never bought a new car off the lot, but this might be the first. Unfortionately, I'm thinking that even though it would be brand new, it will probably not have the "personality" of the traditional muscle cars.

I have to say, while I'm not really a 'Ford Man' I have always loved mustangs. This is my pride and joy. Nothing like pulling her out of the garage to take the wife on a night ride across town and watching all the kids in thier 'souped up' Hondas drool and when they see her and cry when they hear it roar.

You can still find old cars cheap in most cases, and with a little money can put them in very good condition and even put in some modern conveniences for a lot less than a new car.

My last 65 Mustang, I paid $1,500 about 10 years ago. I put in a new front-end for about $500. I rebuilt the engine for about $1k, put in a rebuilt 5-speed overdrive tranny from a 90's model mustang for about $600, did little modifications to increase headlight power, dashboard light visibility, added electronic ignition for about $50, and had plans to put all-disc brakes on it, and eventually power windows and door locks, along with a digital dashboard. After all of this, bodywork, and paint, I would have spent less than $10k for an awesome car that would turn a lot more heads than any 2007 Mustang would.

Not only that, but if something broke, as simple as those cars were I knew where the problem was and how to fix it.

Zyxistal - very nice car, by the way

My favorite has to be the 69 BB Camaro; a COPO 9561 would fit the bill just fine. And I wouldn’t mind having to sell my 64 T-bird in order to make room for it.
Also the new Camaro is got my eye.

King Cobra is what I like! Not many made and they were sharp looking. Ford is coming out with one soon but only 1000 will be made.

    Thank you,

I picked it up when I was stationed back in Cali for $7,800 and have since put in about 2k in just parts. Would have been cheaper but I'm going for a full beauty restoration.
