Ahh...but there's nothing like that warm, comforting feeling when peeing in a wetsuit in 60+ degree water.
Two rules: 1) Pee in the wetsuit, spit in the mask. Not vice versa 2) Do not pee in the wetsuit before entering or after exiting.

if you know you have peed in the wetsuit, please before you get out of the water, open the neck seal and take in as much water as possible, a couple times, to flush it out - there is nothing worse than sitting in a car with someone who still smells like pee...

immersion-induced diuresis and dry suits
Quote:
As the immersion-induced diuresis reflects constriction of peripheral blood vessels in reaction to the cooling effects of the water, you may actually find that the dry suit will offer some protection against the urinary phenomenon. Warmer skin means less constriction of peripheral blood vessels. Less constriction of peripheral blood vessels means less fluid being redirected to the larger central blood vessels. Less fluid in the larger central blood vessels means less urinary output. Less urinary output means happy diving. Last edited by wgt : 06-13-2008 at 10:32 AM. |

I find I need to pee more in a drysuit than in a wetsuit. I don't know why but it is true for me and I added a P-Valve for that. In fact, I'll often pee 2 or 3 times during a dive just because I can.
For right now it may be because of pressure. I have a "boggy prostate" that I'm being treated for at the moment and I wonder if it somehow reacts to pressure and releases it's grip allowing me to pee easier? At any rate, I find it easier to pee in the water than on land right now and the P-Valve makes me so much more happy. No more worry about stinking wetsuits, etc.
