Diving cold water wet....

As I was suiting up in my heavy gear on Thursday at Haigh Quarry in preparation for the 43 degree water I couldn't help thinking about how nice it was last Aug in Fla where I dove in a 3mm shorty. The prospect of the stiff 7mm suit, heavy gloves & hood cut into the anticipation just a little bit.

Then I got in the water for the first time in 8 months and all of the hassles where gone.

I realized diving cold water wet is like having sex with a condom. It might not be quite as enjoyable, but your diving, so quit your bitching and enjoy it

It beats being on dry land, and there are a lot of things in the cold water that warm water divers will never see or experience.

Yes, it's a bit of a pain havingto put on the suit, but I like cold water diving. Why, I don't know, but it's still a good time to me.

Matt, I agree. In the many years we lived in S. Florida, there were times I yearned for some of the dives in my "home waters" of Cape Ann. New England diving has many beautiful dives that can rival some warm water experiences. Besides, it separates the men from the boys!
