Mentorship

I was sitting around thinking about why Anakin Skywalker went bad.

I think that it was because the Emperor made him a Darth at too young an age. He placed too much responsiblity on Anakin.

And ultimately, I think that decision is why Anakin turned against the Emperor, and threw him off of the catwalk thing.

I guess the lesson we can take away from that tragedy is; If you are mentoring a young person, try to determine if that person is ready for a responsibility before assigning it to him.

Does this make sense, or am I way off base?

Way off. Anakin turned on him because he saw his son's devotion. He took a pummeling trying to prove that his father was still inside him somewhere, and in the end, he was right.

Makes sense, and I award you full geek cred for drawing a well-pondered Star Wars analogy into the Scuba realm.

Wow! I thought I had some off-the-wall thoughts at times. Must be from breathing too much "oxygen".

I was thinking that the Emperor must have been really sad when he was falling down that shaft thing.

He invested a lot of time, effort, and Imperial Credits into making Anakin a good community organizer, and he was repaid by being tossed into a deep energy conduit thing.

Just rewards! How did that geezer get to be Emporer, when he didn't even have enough of the Force within, to do the Jedi Floating / MindTrick / gimmick to keep from falling? What a pansy!
