I've recently grown a full beard (wife likes it) and was very concerned about mask leakage since I've had probs in the past even without the beard. I vividly recall a trip to Belize where I was at 500 psi 15 mins before everyone else because I used up so much air while clearing.
So I probably go overboard now, but at least I don't have to clear my mask every few seconds. Here's the deal: I put moisturizer on my face around my mask lines starting the day before the dive. Then, I put mustache wax on my mustache and use some silicon grease on the mask seal. You can get the grease from Home Depot in the plumbing section. So far, so good. |

The thing that concerns me is like dissolves like. So in time the silicone grease you're using will damage the mask. I don't know how long it takes, but the theory says it will.
That said, I'm sure that stuff I bought was silicone based as well and I use it.

OK, I'll send you a picture. There's one of me on facebook as well. I'm kind of bushy right now, need to trim it and get a hair cut, but I've been very busy this last month repairing my house. I had a hot water heater bust while on vacation and when I returned I found extensive water damage.
So, been swinging a hammer a lot instead of diving.
