A 'heads up' for those of us men who may be regular Home Depot customers.


Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.


Here's how the scam works:


Two seriously good-looking 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you are loading your purchases into the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts--it is impossible not to look.


When you thank them and offer them a tip, they simply say 'No', and instead ask you for a ride to another Home Depot or Lowes. You agree and they get in the back seat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet.


I had my wallet stolen on September 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th & 24th. Also on October 1st, 4th, twice on the 6th, three times just yesterday, and very likely this coming weekend.


So tell your friends to be careful.

I can't defend many of my male counter-parts, some of them are simply sick. Don't want to turn the thread to a downer. When my wife was 12 her 30 something year old cousin tried to "make-out with her". He knows that I know about this and things do get a little odd at family get togethers when he's around.

BTW, if we ever get to dive together, I'd be happy to carry your tanks.

Well in his defense, I did look 20 and when he hit on me, he had not met me and didn't know that I was his 15 year old son's "crush." It was a good early lesson about what some mean (freudian slip?) are really all about. Had saved me a world of hurt over the years.

I will be in Raleigh next summer for the North American Science Fiction convention (NASFic), Aug 5-8. I may have to come down a couple of days early to check out the local diving and hopefully meet some local forum members.
