Men Have Less Accidents than Women???
Getting insurance this week for one of the boys and I told the agent the Wreck video was good in putting the fear of death in being a safe driver. Unfortunately most guys think they are really good drivers since they can score a high score on the video games and only die like 4 times in 500 dangerous video attempts. They don't realize that on the real road....1 is the magical number to end the game of life.
To my surprise the agent said: "Guys actually have less wrecks than girls"..... The mind immediately churned as I know I pay more for the guys than my girls & I responded, I guess that means the ones they have are more expensive with average higher speeds, damages more severe, death more likely, with lawsuits & higher rates following. She said, Yes, the girls accidents are more frequent but usually fender binders due to distraction etc. with far less money lost. I have not googled it yet to find insurance documentation; but it makes sense to me. I guess on a trip I'll tell the guy to drive instead of one of my girls since it's safer as long as I let him know "no horse play." and I'm in the car to make sure of it... I'm looking to get some blood boiling, so let me know what you think.....lol...

Some of the other reasons that this is the case is because males on average drive more then females. And if you drive more then your odds of being in an accident increase. Also, young men are more often risk takers behind the wheel. This often results in moving violation tickets. Both of those factors result in higher premiums.

well, not to pick nit, but if the agent said "less" instead of "fewer" I would not give credence to his statement.
If the company used the word "less", I would have my doubts about them. In any case, for years boys always had more accidents. Also quite gruesome. Yesterday and today. Let's see what some of the cops and first responders say here. I was a volunteer FF back in the day. I believe I am acurate. Perhaps today, girls get into fender benders with their texting, but I have NEVER known a girl to put the pedal down, nor drag race, nor expience "Superman in a Can".

I've always said and have always been told that I drive like a little old lady. The theory being, there are reasons they got to be little old ladies. Also been told that someday, NASCAR/Federal agents will pull me over and take the Firebird. As I should not be allowed to have it, driving like I do.
Rescind previous stupidity.

Similar story for me in a Oldsmobile i think it was a 442 engine. It would fly. Luckily I sold it after a year.
Why did we do it? 1. The challenge 2. The chance to win 3. Beating the other guy 4. The thrill of speed 5. The feeling of youth and being invulnerable 6. Other people in the car egging you on. 7. Just do it now 8. why not? odds of getting caught are less than 50/50 (short term thinking instead of long term) ...I can't say alcohol as I was never that stupid to try going too fast while intoxicated. I was occasionally stupid, just not that stupid...9.adrenaline rush--I think more guys get hooked on this feeling from sports etc. than girls and want to repeat it.

My 23 yr old guy is nothing like me in this case.... Really, he puts his long term goals before his short term goals. Few guys do this.... My younger guys...well...we'll have to wait & see...
Only 1 of my girls even likes or wants to drive....

Tell him to slow the hell down out there, put the stupid phone away, and stop texting. Cars are like weapons and should be treated as such. |
