We have a Bassett Hound who always looks pathetic...So anytime I get in trouble and try the sad eyes thing I get shot down because according to my wife "You will never look as pathetic as Dusty and his look doesn't work on me either" Oh well........

This only works with kids, and not even all the time then.

We, as men, have no hope of pulling it off. Nor should we even attempt it. We are men. We stand strong, stare our women in the face, and in a loud and authoritative voice say "I'm sorry honey, I screwed up. How about a backrub?"

Gets me out of trouble anyway!

True, a quick and earnest "I'm sorry" is better than most any excuses. Then, after you are no long fixed in place by the baleful stare of your most-precious loved one, you can come up with lame excuses later.
