can you tell what the difference is between the prestige 12 & the ranger 12 regulators?? also why are none of the mares regulators nitrox compatable ???

I think that the only difference is the face-plate.

Mares regs are Nitrox compatible.

With the exception of the 2004-ish Proton Ice, I'd pick some other regulator...Atomic, Sherwood SR1, Zeagle.

The reason for the "Nitrox" issues is that Mares is an Italian company, and they go under the CE standards, that are much stricter and different than the US standards. Since they sell a bunch in Europe - the CE standard is necessary for them. According to those standards, virtually no regulators would be "Nitrox ready" out of the box... but according to our standards... everything is.

When it comes down to it, if you are not going over 40% O2, you can take any reg you want and run nitrox with it... The marketing, and local regulations may dictate otherwise, but for recreational diving... any reg is a nitrox reg.
