Bio Fin Question

Hi all, I've just recently upgraded to a set of the Apollos w/ the spring strap (My tusa zooms are fairly thrashed, and therefor my "work" fins now...o.k. it was just an excuse, but a good one!). I wear a size 10 in the instadry boot, and purchased a size M fin. The fin pocket fits perfectly, however the spring strap is a bit tight. I understand the springs are available in 2 different lengths. I guess my question would be, do the medium fins come stock with the shorter of the 2 springs? If so I'm thinking I may have to swap them out for the longer springs. Or do the springs perhaps "relax" a bit after use?
If anyone has any information on this I'd very much appreciate it.
Thankyou,
Johnny

I have the Bio Fin XT's in the same size as you with the C-straps. Can't comment on what length of straps they normally come with as mine were attached when I got them. When I first got them I also thought they fit a little tight. Didn't notice it once I got them on, (really comfortable and secure fit) but getting them on and off was a little harder than I had thought it would be. After doffing and donning them a substantial number of times now I have to say that I don't believe the spring has relaxed at all. However I believe that my technique has improved and I can have those suckers on in a the blink of an eye now.

I'm stunned that you're fitting a size 10 instadry bootie into a size M bio-fin.

I wear size 9 instadry booties (7mm... is that the difference?) into size LL bio fins... I tried size L and got foot cramps almost immediately. The size LL fins fit perfectly.

The springs do not relax... that would defeat the point of figuring out the right size by trying it on. If they're too tight, you need a different size spring strap installed. If you bought it at ScubaToys, they might be willing to help you, else you may have to buy a new, larger set of Apollo spring straps and install those instead.

johnyringo: We have three size SS springs: The 10" spring is used on fin sizes XS-SM, the 12" on MD-LG and the 13" inch spring on size XL.

Thankyou all for the great info.! The instadry boots are actually the 3mm, and they do fit snug in the apollo pocket, but not tight, which is the way I like 'em...less "flop factor". I have 6mm hard soles that fit great with my Tusa zooms, but you're right on that count Compudude, I'm sure they'd be to tight for the apollos in size M.
As MagnaBoxer stated, the springs may just take some getting used to, and they do feel fine once they're on. If they give me trouble in the future I'll talk with mdb1 and figure out if the long would be the way to go.
Thanks again!

ooops. made a mistake.

After reading Compudude's post I started wondering. I'm not home now so I can't check but did find my electronic receipt where I ordered my fins. Turns out mine are large and not medium as I had posted they were. Could have sworn they were mediums. Oh well.. Guess my comparison didn't really apply. Sorry bout that.

Just out of curiosity, what size shoe do you wear? I wear size 11 in shoes such as New Balance and I typically wear a size 10.5 in dress shoes (i.e. thinner socks). Anyway, I just ordered size 10 Insta Dry boots and I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will fit.

I ordered the 7mm ones and I am hoping to get them into my Size L BioFins. But, if my luck is the same as CompuDude's, I will replacing either my spring straps or fins (with LL) in the near future.

I wear a size 10-10 1/2 shoe depending on the make.
