Small Fins for Women

Hello everyone- I'm new to the diving world and just starting to purchase the basics. One of my various problems is that I am quite petite, 4'10" and around 100lbs. My feet are also small...I'm between a 4 1/2 and 5 shoe size. I'm having problems locating booties that fit and small, good quality fins. The xsmall fins I've tried on thus far have too much of a gap. Any suggestions in brands that run smaller or may fit? Thanks so much in advance!

Hey Dixonju,
I emailed a friend of mine who's wife is about your size. These are the suggestions he made:
"Fins- She uses Apollo Bio Fins. small. I actually switched to those after she raved about them.
Boots? I think she has Deep Sea? Not sure. I'll check. Whatever they are, they are pretty no frills.
Henderson tends to run small. I bet the Instadry Boots will fit her, if nothing else does.
My wife's problem is finding a BC that will fit her."

If he sends anything else, I'll let you know. Hope that helps!

dixonju: The XS bio-fins could be just the right size for your shoe size. If you are using a hard soled boot in your size the XS should do it. Ask Joe and Larry, they will have good advice.

You'd definitely need the xs bio-fins they tend to run large. Don't even try the full-foot bio's, they are for amazon women (seriously, the smallest full-foot was designed to fit a woman with a size 9 foot).

I also have the mares avantix-3's in xs. They are a small size. Smallest sized atomics are good too, because they have a narrower foot pocket.

Full-foots, go with the Oceanic Caribes--they are the best!

Size medium Jet fins fit small feet and small people as well, although you would need some kind of booties with them. I've had good luck using Chuck Taylor tennis shoes to make my feet "bigger" to fit in my fins. Might give you the option of a wider choice of fins if you did something like that.

Cressi-Sub makes an XS Rondine fin. If you can find someone locally that has them to try on. The kids (grade school) in our local dive program use them.

My feet aren't quite as small (size 6), but I have the Mares Volo Power fins in a small, with some Neosport boots (but they are a bit big - I think they are a Mens 6, not a womens 6). I love my fins though - lightweight and awesome in the water!

You could try the Tusa Tri-Ex. They come in a size XS and in Pink (if your into that). My wife has them in size small (she's 5ft. 110lbs size 5.5 foot). As for booties, I think they might be Tusa as well... can't remember. I'm not sure if that size/color is distributed in the US, but I'm sure an authorized Tusa dealer would be able to order them.

You all are so great! I'm going to write down all of the suggestions and start hunting these down. I actually tried on the exact pair of pink ones above for sizing purposes, and they were too big! I also tried the Henderson boots in an XS...also too big. I am the equivalent to a size 3 in kids shoes, so maybe there are kid booties out there? Thanks again for all of the suggestions!
