Mares X-Vision Mask

I am thinking of upgrading my mask to a prescription mask and was told that ST could get my +2.5 for the Mares X-Vision Mask.

Anyone know the pros and cons of this mask?

I have one with -6.0 lenses in it that I like a lot. One of the only low volume masks that I could find with available corrective lenses, so it's a good thing that it's very comfortable to wear.

The mask has a very good field of vision, but it didn't fit my face. I'd suggest making sure it fits before you go buying prescription lenses, or at least make 100% you can return it all.

After reading this....

Mares X-Vision - Frame cracking

Maybe i need to keep looking for a better mask.

Anyone know a good mask that I can get a +2.5 lens with a black skirt and low profile?

It's a great mask. I wouldn't worry about cracking too much. Be careful with it... as you should be with any prescription object containing glass bits. Beyond that, I've taken no undue care with mine.

Fit is WAY more important than features. But the features are there, so if the mask fits, I suspect you'll be very happy with it.

I've had 0 problems with my X-vision and over 100 dives with it. It's a really good mask. Just make sure this model fits your face before you buy. Different masks fit different face shapes and fit is the most important aspect!

Cheers!

Look at the Atomic Subframe. I know you can get corrective lenses for it. Not sure about +2.5

i've had one for about 8-10 months now... use it almost every week... never taken any special care about it, and it's still going, and looks new and does what it should. it's taken a bit of abuse on boats here and there and im sure it rolled around in my trunk with tanks and the rest of my gear.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I am not comfortable putting that kind of money in a mask that has problems with cracking. I usually use a mask about 5 years before changing them out and I want one that will last me at least that long if I am going through the extra expense of putting prescription lenses in it.

I will have to just check out some of the other mask or use the extra money for another tank and keep using stickons.

I have a X-vision with prescription lense for 3 years. I don't really take special care but mine still works great.
