Oceanic pocket snorkel
I just received my oceanic pocket snorkel from ST (thanks ST!) and had a question about it. In fact, I should've asked this before purchasing. I like to snorkel a lot along with diving, and was wondering if anyone felt the pocket snorkel was also a good all around snorkel to use. Or if I should just get a "non-folding" model? Any input is appreciated.

Its ok...I woudlnt rate it that high but it gets the job done. If you want a nice snorkel for snorkeling get a non-folded one.
However it does get the job done

But strictly for snorkeling, there are definitely better options. My personal favorite is any of the Tusa Platina/HyperDry snorkels. Semi-dry (I don't care for "full dry" snorkels), simple, easy, and well-designed, from the shape of the barrel to the anti-splash top. And, surprisingly, the most current ones are made from a plastic that actually can fold up rather nicely! I'm not sure of the long-term impact, but I do know a guy who uses them as folders, oddly. |

For a non-folding snorkel, I really like the Oceanic Ultra-dry. It's a little bulky, but I had a hard time flooding it when I tried during my OW class. I have the Oceanic folding one as well and would have to agree that it's the best folding snorkel I've used, but I definitely prefer the Ultra-dry if I'm just snorkeling.

I use the Tusa Platina. It is a very dry low profile snorkel. I have the Black red. It is mainly black with just a little red. I went black because the clear silicon tends to yellow over time. Tusa Platina Hyperdry Snorkel and Reviews, Tusa
I also have Aqua Lung Impulse 3 flex and regular. These are very large bore mega snorkels that have a comfo bite mouth piece and are great for strenuous activities. I use them a lot when freediving. http://www.leisurepro.com/Prod/Categ...M3F.html?Hit=1 |
