I'm looking to buy a pair of full foot fins - been looking at Mares Avanti Excel and also saw Mares Quattro Powers which looked nice. Can anyone give me some recommendations?

Where did you find Quattro Powers? I've heard that Mares was going to start making them again, but they don't have them on their website or at any LDS around here. Mares makes great full foot fins, so I think you're looking in the right place. I think the Quattro Powers are slightly stiffer and have a longer blade compared to the Avanti Excel. The Volo race is also a great fin. It is a little easier to kick than the other fins, but still gives good thrust. If you can, try out as many fins as possible in a pool to see what feels best.

about the powers: i've only seen them a few places.
http://shop.divebooty.com/80.html

but i'm not sure if they're still being made, and I don't know if any shop has them as demos.

I've tried the avanti excels and really liked them, but i was hoping the powers would be similar and a little longer.

I cant say too much about Full foot fins. Since I dive in different types of waters, I chose not to pay for a full foot fin. If you ever dive a colder region, you will be renting my friend. Along with renting, you have to Hope they are in decent condition and hope they have your size. If you ever get a chance to dive the tusa Splits Tusa Zooms Do it! I have 2 pairs and love them

The booties are 2 fold.. Wear them to the dive site to protect your feet from minor cuts and scrapes, hot sand or pavement and dive with them.

thanks for the advice. i currently have fins & booties so all is well. but most of my diving will be in the tropics, so it's absolutely worth it for the warm water.

Have you thought about the Apollo full foot Bio fins?http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detai...BioFinFullFoot
I know people that swear by them and I have had my eye on them at the ScubaToys price.
