Need new mask

I lost my good mask ad need a new one what is the best suggustion out there for purge mask since I can't afford a AGA mask taht I really want. unless someone has one they would sell me super cheap. I like the purge type because I seem to not be able to get completely over breathing out my nose since for years I've been taught thats how to breath. See I'm also a fireman and in a air pack you breath threw the nose not the mouth.

Cannot recommend any masks with a purge valve. I would say you might want to check out all the local dive shops and see what you can find. Dive mask is one of those things you need to try it out. If your mask doesn't fit it can totally ruin a dive.

I really don't care for purge masks. So many down sides. My irst "scuba" mask was a scubapro 3 window mask with a purge. I filled the purge valve with wetsuit cement.

You can exhale through any mask. You cannot inhale through a purge mask.

FWIW, I became a volunteer Fire Fighter not long after being certified. We used Scott Air Paks. Now maybe the problem is you used the Scotts (or Draegers) before your cert.

Just get comfortable.

I can use both styles my spare is a non purge style I just seem to like the purge valve better I have never had any issue with the valve leaking. I did start the department well before being certified about ten years. So you can see where this threw me for a lope. I'm getting a lot better and calmer in the water at first I didn't think I was going to like diving and wouldn't last at it. Now I found that I love it and can't wait to go back out again go at the very least once a week if not more. My buddies said I was crazy last winter when my dad and I walked thru 2 feet of snow to get to the lake in our wet suits so we could get one last dive in before the lake froze over. Its so hard to get enough guys to do a safe ice dive.

I think I dropped it comming out of the water or it got set down next to my car and forgot. Or I have some dishonest dive buddies that got a nice newer mask (but I don't believe this one). I was at Nelsons Ledges and I did walk away for a minute from my gear and I have heard some bad stories about the place but never had any issues myself. But I will admit the thong that we found in the water did have us a little distracted at the end of the day. Not really sure how it got lost just know that when I got home to put stuff away it wasn't there and they didn't have either.

9 years as a hose dragger and I've never heard of breathing primarily through my nose when masked.

I also don't like purge masks. It's so easy to clear a regular mask, and the purge is one more thing that can fail underwater.

If you wear a non-purge mask really tight, I guarantee you won't be breathing out your nose.

If you're wearing any mask "really tight", I guarantee that you're too dumb to know how to properly adjust the strap.

If you are looking for cheap, stop by a dive shop at a scuba park and ask for the Lost N Found...might find a nice mask in there...heck might find the one you lost!
