Red face "Frameless Masks"

So I was in my LDS getting air fills when the owner showed me one of their "Atomic Aquatic Ultraclear Frameless" masks that had just came in. Beautiful little mask with a black skirt and red trim. Id been meaning to get a black skirted mask for a while, and since they had it marked at only $80 (cheaper than STs even - GASP) I had to try it on. It fit quite nice and the viewing area was great compared to practically every other mask they had in the store. Anyhow - Here's the question -

How is it "frameless"? I guess I imagined a frameless mask being... floppy. After all, take the frame out of my truck and what do you have - A Chevy. LOL

Really though - It seems to have a hard frame around the rim just like every other mask

Mares has a nice one as well. I bought two. Liquid Skin. At least GM doesnt have problems with their diesel engines. Nor does Dodge. Ford does. I had two ford f250s as well. Crap. But in LA (Lower Alabama) they do love them Fords.

I have this mask and I love it. The medium fits my face better than any mask in years. If you look closely at this mask, the silicon skirt is bonded directly to the lens. The framed mask has lens' in a plastic frame, with the skirt bonded to the frame. I don't know for sure whether this is better or not, for me, it is just about fit.

Bah. Wasn't Ford's fault. It was Navistar's, their engine supplier. Thankfully they dumped Navistar like a lame prom date - So no more worries.

obrules15 - Thanks for the explanation. I guess that makes sense.... Or so the marketing hypes leads us to beleive

Actually it is International and the 08s and 09s have the same problems. Just traded my 08 in for a GMC now no problems. Wasn't Fords fault? They purchased the engine..... Dont get me wrong, I love Ford. I have a 66 Mustang convertible and an 06 Mustang. But their F250s are crap.

Good job. And who owns International?

EDIT -

Don't know why Im defending Ford. These days it's not Ford vs GM. It's Ford/GM vs Toyota
Oh. And I beleive it's one of those internet laws that states if you mention owning a classic, you must post pictures!

I think this thread has been derailed... in record time too!

I don't have the frameless, but it do love my Atomic Sub-frame. Things built like a tank.

The last time we saw the boys from LA was in St Croix just before Hurricane Omar. That"s where the hurricane hunters fly out of; their best line was can't you tell where were from by our accent, were from LA. (Lower Alabama)
