What size spring straps?

Help! My husband and I are going to Roatan in two weeks and I want to get him some spring straps. I ordered him some XL Tilos Spring Straps because he wears a size 11 shoe. WAY too big. He has Tusa ZOOM split fins and they are L/XL size. Since the XL are not just a little too big but just huge, should I get him the mediums or the large? What do you think?

I have a large spring strap from Innovative on medium TUSA Xpert Zoom. My boots are 5mm and around size 9, and have very thick sole. They are larger than most typical tropical type boots. If your hubby wears similar boots, then I'd consider large.

However, I would suggest to measure the length from pin to pin of the fin with one boot in the fin's foot socket. Substract 1.5 inches from the measured length will give a good accurate spring strap size. Good luck!

If your hubby is getting the fins ahead of time, have him put his boots on and put a fin on so his foot is all the way in. As green moray said, measure from pin to pin and call Scuba Toys and they can give you the right size. I'm going to guess he will take either a L or XL with leaning to the XL.

Have fun in Roataan!

My boyfriend needed the smalls and they were still a little big. Same as you Tusa Zoom Fins L/XL and the small tilos spring straps work great.

I used the large ones that Piranha had for 10 bucks each. Work great!

I have a pair of ScubaPro Twin jets XL. I wear 3mm boots for warm water. I got a pair of Innovative XL spring straps a couple of years ago...put them on the fins...NEVER tried them on until my first dive in Palau back in 07....Woops...LOL....I'd needed a drysuit boot for them to fit. Then I got a Med size and they work perfect!

DiveSports has good info on measuring for spring straps on their website. Just look up the EZ Spring straps they sell, and there are detailed instructions and photos. (There are several varieties and not all have photos, so keep looking if the first one doesn't have them)
