cleaning a new mask

I have a question, when you clean your mask for the first time before you go diving what do you guys use to clean it and stop it from fogging up? can you use something like eye glass cleaner, soap, or anything else you have used that works well?

Thanks

You can use just about any type of non-gel type of toothpaste. There are other products you can buy, but I think the toothpaste works just as well.

Regular toothpaste..... Scrub really good (old toothbrush works good) and rinse. Repeat 3-5 times and make sure you rinse real good with warm water especialy if you use a mint flavor unless you like minty fresh eyeballs.

Toothpaste worked well for me. Smells good to for the first dive or so.

toothpaste - also - I don't just scrub down the glass - but the rubber skirting as well.

I would say I spend about 20 minutes scrubbing with my fingers - then about 5 minutes rinsing (minty eyeballs are distracting to me) - then that's it I'm good to go - a little defog before my dives - but problem pretty much solved.

I also use toothpaste for the initial clean. Then a bit of spit before each dive will keep it nice and clear.

As noted above, toothpaste is my favorite. I also use it for occasional cleaning of the mask.

Another non-gel toothpaste user. Works just fine. If you don't have any handy, go buy a small travel size at the supermarket or dollar store.

tooth paste. Repeat alot until the class feels "polished" when rubbing with a soft cloth.

A lot of people use a butane lighter to burn off the residue, but I have no cajones for that.
