Prescription inserts, Mares X-Vision
Before I found this site, I bought a Mares X-Vision mask, with some prescription inserts, installed by the dive shop. Once I had the chance to use them, my left lens leaked fairly profusely, even in just a few feet of water. After I investigated, I found that the left lens was cut a good 1/8th - 1/4 of an inch smaller than it should have been. Needless to say, the mask is back at the dive shop now, hopefully being fixed up with a new lens. Is this a common problem that others have had, or am I just that lucky one?

We've installed lot's of lenses.... Hundreds and hundreds, and have never seen that... We always leak test them before they leave - and the only thing I've seen is if in assembly, you don't get the skirt just right - they can leak - but a small lens?? Never seen that!

Crazy. I wonder if they accidentally used a lens from a mid-skirt mask? Although I thought the frame was the same size for each, so who knows.
ScubaToys installed the lenses in my X-Vision Mid, and it's been fine! (just to rub it in. ) |

Oh, and there is no need to rub it in! Even after just test fitting the X-Vision, my mask now feels like a brick strapped to my face, not nearly as comfortable. ![]() |
