Mares X-vision don't fit my face....

I've got a Mares X-Vision and it's an awesome mask, but one significant problem. I have a large head (not humongous, just large... there a bigger, i'm sure!) and 'smile lines' on my face. you know, those vertical wrinkles beside your nose when you smile..

so, i've been having a lot of trouble with my mask leaking. it always has. nothing serious, just ALWAYS! after examination, it looks like the lower skirt across my mouth is just not big enough for the width of my face and water leaks around my 'smile lines'....

i just ordered a Tusa M24 based on comments of other people with these problems.. hopefully, this fixes my problem... i'll let you know...

there could be an almost new x-vision for sale here soon!

My wife has been known to use a little Vaseline to take care of "smile line" leaks.

Smile lines are a problem with almost every mask. You smile, you can expect a leak. I find it best to "smile on the inside" when diving... or, after seeing something that makes me bust out laughing, it's time to clear the mask.

You might want to look for a mask with softer silicone. Black skirted masks tend to be softer and more flexible. The new Mares Liquidskin may be just the ticket. The Oceanic shadow also makes a great low profile mask for big faces.

are you sure that you didn't get the X-vision MID, they sell them in 2 sizes and many shops don't realize this and just give you the first one they grab. I had this problem, but I realized it before I bought it. I don't think the smaller one has any markings that are different

Actually, it says "Mid" on the skirt... that's how you can tell them apart without a side by side comparison.

Same problem

I experienced the exact same problem. Ended up selling the mask after two dives right here on this site (thanks ScubaToys!). I agree, if you look at the skirt it is very, very thin along the bottom. I have a mustache which makes the problem worse. Ironically the midskirt mask fits better even though i have a wide face...go figure. Still searching for the right mask. Am sticking with my 21 year old USDivers for now.
