Anybody using Dive Optx Mask Magnifiers?

For those over 40 with short arms:

(warning: LeisurePro link)
Aqua Dive Optx Flexible Mask Magnifiers (1 Pair) 1.50

Do you feel they're worth the money?
How long do yours last for?
What is your experience in using antifog with them?
Any other similar products out there?

..........AND
Does ScubaToys sell these? Did not see on their website.

My hubby has a set of these. But..even though he has followed the instructions to the letter...they refuse to stay "stuck" to his mask. He says they work great-WHEN they stay in place. He usually can make it through one dive before they pop off.

I have a friend who uses these, she needs them to see up close. She likes them and uses them alot with no problems that she has voiced.

Heres' the link for Scuba Toys: http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detai...CT_ID=DiveOptx

I've done about a half dozen dives with mine and had no problems. You have to clean your mask well before applying them and then let it dry for 24 hours. Mine actually was allowed to dry for a few days before I used it. I use the Sea Gold De-Fog Gel. One drop is enough to do both lenses. The edge of the lenses does feel sharp so I'm careful not to run my finger along the edge only across (don't want to cut myself ;-)) I've been pretty happy with these. It's nice to be able to read my gauges normally instead of extending them out to the end of the hose :-) I feel like they were worth every penny. I wanted a spare mask and just ordered this one... :http://scubatoys.com/store/detail.as...UCT_ID=Fusion2 This is another potential way to go instead of the dive optix lenses. Dive Rite also has a similar mask but is I think about twice as much money. Scuba Toys is an authorized Dive Rite dealer so even if its not on their website, they can get it for you.

Huh! I am puzzled as to why these won't "stick" in my hubby's mask. We cleaned the lenses first and allowed to dry about 5 days before using them. I am almost to the point of contacting the manufacturer in regards to this issue. My hubby loves them when they work and is disappointed they only stay in place for one dive. Other suggestions...???? We are stumped.

I'm not sure... possibly it's just a defective pair of lenses. I had air bubbles underneath mine that I was sure to press out to get a good seal. Are you putting the concave side towards the inside of the mask so as to form a suction? I think it would be easy to get it backwards. That's the only thing I can think of... don't know if that helps. I would try re-installing one more time and if they don't work, send them back as defective.

I was thinking the same thing as Bill. Maybe you have them in backwards. I've had mine in for two full dive seasons plus I was using the mask in a pool regularly in the winters. I'm not sure if I could get the lenses out if I wanted too. I even have a little bubble under the lenses here and there which doesn't really seem to be an issue. My mask was actually "old" before I put the Optyx lenses in, so I'm sure there was no manufacturing residue left on the mask lens. Maybe that makes a difference?

I have them in my mask and they do help me. I can only reiterate what was mentioned above - make sure the convex surface is not facing down and let it dry for at least 24 hours. When mounted properly I have had them stay in place for full week dive trip. I also try to be careful when applying anti-fog so that they don't get moved around. The normal defog drops seem to work fine for me.

Dive Optx mask magnifiers

I have used them and have had no problems with them, they stuck to my mask and helped me read my wrist computer. Just have to be careful when cleaning mask or defogging it.
