apollo bio-metal mask
I have great difficulty finding a mask that fits my seemingly (narrow) smaller than "average" face, I have been looking at the apollo Bio-metal mask, seems to seal ok in the shop, but in water....? cant try...my question does anyone have any experience with this mask, in particular to its ruggedness, I am concerned that with frame being made from aluminium that it would be prone to bending if someone on a boat dive knocked it or banged a tank against it rendering it useless..maybe...Also can anyone recommend a small fitting mask pref with black skirt. I currently live in Japan and in my town there is only three dive stores all with very small selections of masks, so may need to buy from the net, a bit risky me thinks, anyway any thoughts comments would be appreciated.
Oh and I am new to scubatoys, but must say how nice it is to read constructive comments and arguments for a change, have been getting a little at the seriousness/aggression/Im right youre wrong/my dads bigger than yours that I have seen on other dive forums. Its ALL supposed to be fun eh...![]() |

I'm sure we still have some of those in the shop - just never put them on the page. They are very, very sturdy... The amount of force needed to bend that mask, you would have already snapped a plastic one 10 times over. That was their whole point - much sturdier than the plastic. I've got a pool at my house, and when we have folks over playing in the pool, I have a few of those out there. They've taken kids throwing them, bouncing them around, etc - with out ever a problem.
And if a mask fits on land - it should not be any different in the water. The one thing some folks forget though, when fitting a mask - check to see if it will still fit when your mouth is open enough to hold a reg. Sometimes that changes things a bit - but if dry it has a nice suction and fit while opening and closing your mouth - I see no reason it wouldn't work in the water as well. |
