I've tried a De-Fog, which comes with Scubatoys Save-a-Dive kit. It worked really well for me and for my friends.

Still have the store bought stuff so I am trying to get it used up. If I forget or don't feel like messing with it, spit.

The 500psi works well, but it makes too big of a mess. It leave a white residue all over the mask, and in the cracks. I hate that stuff.

Sea Gold is IMO the best over the counter product I've tried.

Baby shampoo readily available, cheap and works well.

I picked up some Sea Drops from Divers Direct last time I was in the Keys, and while I like Sea Gold better, the Sea Drops work almost as well.

Keeping your mask clean goes a long ways towards helping with fog. A dirty mask will fog up more readily than a clean mask in my experience. I've gone to washing mine with shampoo after each day of diving.

no need to make your own, the stuff is so cheap anyway and lasts a long time. I personally use the 500psi brand and it works like a charm. I would recomment it to anyone.

regarding spit

How would you feel if someone spit in your eyes?! Sorry, but your spit is no cleaner (or bacteria free) than anyone elses' spit. Some people worry about peeing in a wetsuit. However, urine is actually sterile! Did you know that. But, spit is NOT sterile. Spit is meant to be kept in your mouth and stomach; not in your eyes. If you think that spit wouldn't get in to your eyes if you put in your mask, think again. One rinse of your mask, or a little (tiny) bit of water in your mask will quickly deliver an spit borne bacteria to anything that is in your mask - INCLUDING YOUR EYES! Use anything but spit!

I've got a small army of divers with 30+ years of experience under their belts that say you're worrying too much...
