Ocean Reef Neptune Space Full Face Mask
Can any one tell me about this mask who has used it? I want to use it on line air. can it handle the constant air flow? how good are the coms you can buy for it. what about lights. can you attach head mounted lights to the staps. are they durrable enough to handle the stress of frequent use? Thank you.

Ocean Reef Space mask
I have a Space mask that I got last year for a shallow salvage job and I really like it.
Great visibility, comfortable and light weight. Ran it off a 175 psi craftsman oilless compressor with .2 micron filter and dove it for 7 hour a day for a month. The straps on the harness are small but adequate and could probably hold small lights, but I ran a 325 watt DSPL light on my weight harness as I was in crappy vis (suction dregging mud in the Sacramento River). They make a better harness for it as an option, but don't recall the differences. I got the regular pressure mask and it worked fine at 135 psi input pressure for both positive pressure and demand flow by only adjusting the input knob and the exhaust valve. You can also get a low pressure mask special order for hookah air pumps (60 psi) but a decent oilless compressor and filter are about the same price as a hookah system and are more versitile, plus you can use the mask with a regular fist stage when you need to. I also made a low-profile 35 watt LED flood light that the head can clip onto a shoulder strap and it gives great work light. |

AGA masks IMO are better, as to what happens with a freeflow? I don't know, never seen it happen with a FFM. I can guess, but it'd be a guess only. The drill would be the same as any regulator free flow, shut down and put your backup regulator in your mouth and replace the mask.
In either event the dive is over. But, nobody I know has ever had a free flow on a FFM, but I'm sure it's possible. I know the guys I know using AGA are using a positive pressure mask, and I know if you pull it off without shutting it down it's going to make bubbles like you can't believe.
