I have seen these before, I went to the website to check them out and the concept behind them is interesting. I don't think they would work well for any other kick than a sissor kick and they do look a little odd. What is funny to see is all the design variations they have tried, you can check them out here:

the larger /stiffer ones will frog kick better than the originals or the pros. eg the excellerating and the extra force. but the Pros will do fine, at least for a modified frog kick. I will say this, the kick feels very unlike what you may be used to. It is a more natural kick, but we have all trained ourselves to kick how the planks work, so it will feel very different and it takes 5-10 dives to relearn how to kick naturally, so give them that chance, preferably uninterupted by other fins. Then after those 10 dives or so try your old fins, I think that you will find you really don't like your old fins very much anymore. One last test that I challenge people to do, at your normal dive site or any site that you know very well, compare your time and air consumption, try to repeat the same dive with the FF's. Most people will realize an improvement in air consumption. But you have to be confortable with them before that can happen.

a lot of new ideas get laughed at.... the first time i went to roatan (1989) i used a seapro travel pack which was a weight integrated, back inflated bc.
i got a lot of stares from the people on the boat but what the heck.... it sure beat wearing a weight belt and at the end of the week, i folded it up into a small bag that fit in my carry one suticasel, got on the plane and came home. i used that bc until i had to patch the patches.... it was shortly after that when i started seeing zeagle bc's at DEMA

When the buckle on my Cressi Rondines broke on the fourth (and final) OW checkout dive this weekend, my instructor lent me his Force Fins.
I could don and doff them in the surf with supreme ease. I could also swim with greatly reduced effort, both on the surface and underwater. That dive was my underwater navigation dive, and my instructor informed me that he had trouble keeping up with me in the Force Fins. My instructor is an evil, evil man. After that, I had to buy my own pair. |
