Unhappy Tusa Full Foot Fins Tearing

Anyone had issues with their full-foot fins tearing? My Tusa Xpert Zoom tore during my last use from the toe area back toward the middle foot on both sides. I've only used these 4 times and only for snorkeling. Since this was my first fin purchase, I didn't know how common this was. I also have since purchased a open heal (other brand) pair to wear shoes in and so far have no trouble with those. I would like to get another pair of full foot fins, but not if this happens again. Any suggestions?

I would contact TUSA about this. My bet is that they will send you another pair. They usually make a good product.

Question Torn Tusa Cetusy

My favorite fins - the Tusa Cetusy - which I use not only for diving, but have used them at the Y for my lap swims tore. That style is no longer available, and it's one that I've just loved. ( They require a bootie and are shaped like fish tails. Longer on the outer end and shorter at the inner end)

The left fin tore at the top of the instep, and I've used a high end glue made for permanent bonds on rubber. I'm very hesitant about taking them out for a dive because I don't know how the salt water will affect the bond. Up until now, I've never had a problem and I am just ....stuck.

I purchased them from ScubaToys. I did send an email to TUSA last week and haven't heard from them; will phone them this week. Thanks for the advice.

I've been thinking about getting a pair of them and it would be nice to know who and how the problem was resolved.

Full foot fins are notoriously less resilient than open heel fins...

they have to be stretchy enough around the heel to allow you to put them on and pull them off - this is true for any fin manufacturer...

I agree though - 4 uses is a little low... definitely see about warrantying them out, but keep in mind, if you use them alot, they are going to tear eventually... (whereas open heel fins may last forever)

I agree about open heels lasting a lot longer and I love my atomic splits... but sometimes it's easier to throw in a pair of full foots for tropical travel when you know that the chance of strong current is minimal. :-)

If ya read the tests, full foot fins are faster and easier in current than open heels.... think about it - less drag, less weight...

but for shore diving, not so good...

That was the reason I purchased my full foot fins before my open heal fins; I would already be barefoot on the beach and didn't want to haul along shoes. Can't beat the lightweight full foot fins, but I feel my open heal are more sturdy. I will have to think hard before purchasing another full foot fin.
