Want mine?

I hate snorkels with a passion. They get in the way, break the seal on my mask, and are a general annoyance. For the type of local diving I do they serve absolutely no purpose at all. If I am in the ocean and the surf is so bad I need a snorkel, I'll put my reg in, which is a better option anyway. If I have a long surface swim I'll still use the regulator, sucking down air at the surface uses very little air.

I do & use it in every dive except ice diving, this way i dont have to pay attention to the roughness of the water & if a surface away from the boat, i can swim for a longer distance.

Regarding the snorkel twangled in line... The line itself is the problem, not the snorkel.

I wear a snorkel when snorkeling. Otherwise, I carry a folding snorkel in a pocket but if that was not an option I would just do without a snorkel.

Most of the time when I see a diver struggling with a leaky mask they have a bigass snorkel hanging off it.

Same here.. but it could be from being old school. Oh, and wanting to get the most bottom time.

I always hated wearing a snorkel with my gear, got in the way and was really uncomfortable but figured I'd try it on a shore dive once. Lost the thing to the depths and figured it was a sign. Haven't worn one since.

Thumbs up Yes, I do lots of shore dives.

Yep, most of my dives are from the shore so I use my snorkel. If your on a cattle boat and they leave you...at least you can keep your face in the water to beat off the sharks...LOL
