Prescription RX Masks

Just curious if anybody uses an RX mask. I see they go for $50-$100 online. I would love to have one as I am far-sighted but am concerned of the quality. I would rather have a GOOD mask that is not RX than a crappy mask that is. Thanks for any input.

I dive a Cressi Big Eye and I had to order the Rx lenses seperately from the lds where I got it. Its a great mask and having the lenses makes it possible for me to dive. There are a couple of mares masks on the ST website that have Rx lenses available. Myadvice is to try a few on and see which ones fit the best and of the best fitting try and find Rx lenses.

Due to the prescription I wear, drop in lenses don't work out for me. So I bought a high quality mask and had lenses glued in. My mask of choice is the older Scubapro Tri-vent. (discontinued, available only on e-bay now).

I have the right side with a complete lens and th eleft with a half lens ( I need to clear face plate to read guages.)

It works for me, but YMMV

I have a Mares X-Vision that has prescription lenses in it. It was a little more expensive than you're talking about (each lense was I think $40 each plus the mask but then also I have a STRONG prescription). I've been told by my LDS that if I wanted to I could switch out the lenses to a Mares Liquid Skin or the X-Vision Mid Skirt if I wanted a different mask.
If your presciption isnt that bad you could look into DiveOptics lense inserts (I have a set of these in addition to my regular lenses for reading my gauges).

My prescription also will not allow for "drop in" type lenses. My particular script calls for near-sight correction, astigmatism, and bi-focals. For me, a glue-in solution was the ONLY answer.

If a drop-in lens will do the job, then great, but do not short-cut yourself. It is not worth it. A high quality mask, that fits, with the correct script makes a world of difference.

Just my .02

I bought a Body Glove corrective lens mask for $50 clearance at Sports Authority. I use the "medium" correction. I love it, exept the skirt is starting to yellow. Has anyone used those "dome" masks that I see advertised in Dive Training mag? You HAVE to be near sighted in order to use it.

I had to have my lenses glued in at the end, I have a simple AquaLung mask (retailed for $40 I think) and each lens was 35 a piece. My LDS installed them for free. Hope that helps!

I went a different route. I got a big eyes mask and had Dive Sight grind me new lenses for my exact prescription. These are great and have held up great. From what I understood at the time, they'd grind any lens for any prescription to fit any mask with removable lenses.

I have naturally occuring monovision and not sure if an RX mask would do for me. I guess I could get one reading lens and glue it in.
