Wow, I just dropped $80 on a great sealing, low profile mask at my LDS but after reading all of these reviews I'm definitely going to order one very very soon. I'll have a back-up for my back-up.

I dive a cressi big eye and I like being able to see all my gear just looking down...I do however need a backup mask and this one looks great. I have some other Tilos dive gear and have been happy with all of it. I think I may have to try it out.

It's just another example of not having to pay more to get more.

Would the Tilos frameless be a good pick for a snorkeler?

Pretty much any mask that fits well is good for snorkeling. Teardrop shaped lenses, which let you look down easier, should be near the top of your list, however, since snorkeling is pretty much 100% looking down.

I think you can still get them, but I can't recall the last time I saw one. Popular for UW models, because you can see the face very clearly.

Not very popular for scuba, however, let alone tech diving.

They do still make them, but I can't imagine that anyone takes them seriously!

I just read the review of the Tilos Excel by Scubadiving.com...take a look.

http://www.scubadiving.com/gear/mask...rameless_masks

It looks like a winner to me.
