When we get a chance to dive together again I'll let you try the Bechaut brand mask defog, it is without a doubt the best that ever existed on the planet, bar none.

The tube I have will last my life time, unless I lose it. Hope not, it's not around anymore from what I can find out. You use an amount that would fit on the tip of a toothpick, no more. You never squeeze it, just open the tip on the bottle and pluck a bit off the end that seems to always be there and you're good to go.

As to masks fogging up when put on your head, it can happen but IME it doesn't happen to me. My normal procedure is to gear up at the car, including putting the mask on and then walk to the dive site. My mask is never fogged over. I'll tell you why, and I bet if you try this you'll find the same thing I did over time. I do not breathe out my nose. If I do that my mask will fog in a very short time, if I don't it never fogs and I dive in temps that are near 0F and water temps that hit 35F. No fogging, ever if I make the effort to not breathe out my nose.

Try it sometime, see if that helps. Works for me is all I'll say.

Let me clarify one thing, your mask must have been properly cleaned in the first place, all bets are off if you don't scrub the mask.

Some masks by the way do not need that cleaning and will state it in the instructions.

Oh well I havent cleaned it yet. I plan on doing it here soon. Im gonna try the spit method and the holding it underwater method and your method of wearing it and not breathing out my nose. But I gotta get the film off first with my cinnamon Crest thoothpaste. Should smell good afterward hehe.

i'd say i had to scrub my atomic mask really good about 5 or 6 times before it stopped fogging, I guess the film is just a bit tougher to get off than most masks. Since then, a drop of defog before a dive and it's perfect.

still fogs

I have Halcyon black skirt mask, low profile. I have cleaned it, scrubbed it, treated it, spit in it and repeated. A buddy of mine mentioned "smoking" the lens with a lighter to get any residue off of it. I am just nervous about ruining a perfectly fine foggy mask.

Anyone ever tried this technique?

I'd be very afraid of ruining the temper of the lens. Try scrubbing the inside again with a baking soda toothpaste. Also, one thing I've noticed with some newer divers is that they exhale frequently through their nose rather than the regulator. This contributes to fogging and mask leaks.

Make sure that you clean off the residue from manufacturing with toothpaste, then after each dive day clean it thoroughly by soaking in dishsoap water or laundry detergent water. Just scrub with your fingers. For me, the best Defog is with me all the time and does not come in a bottle or tube.

No. That just sounds like a good way to melt the skirt. I'd just scrub it some more with toothpaste.
